2000xl=mutitrack recorder????????

yo im a 4k user and i read on the akai website that the 2000xl is a multitrack recorder, is this true or bs advertisement?
cos the 4k is not a multitrack recorder, and if the 2kxl is then something's wrong with akai

It's a multi track recorder in as much as it can record multiple sequencer tracks (i.e. 64 tracks in a sequence).

It's certainly not a multi track audio recorder like a DPS24.

but yes, it is a multi track recorder, as is a 4000.

Akai knows very well that when people see multitrack recorder, they're automatically gonna assume "audio" multitrack. It's called "fluffing" in salesman's terms. They're not lying per se, but you know.... Since it's a damn good product, nobody sweats the small details.

now I don't know about this being an issue of common sense. Don't believe me then just look at the Roland MV8000. That unit is indeed a bonafide sampler, sequencer, AND multitrack recorder (audio). Just using that as an example of how fast technology advances, you really have to look deeper (like these forums) to get a straight answer because one may truly not know. It has nothing to do with common sense. Even the Korg Triton studio with it's newest O.S. upgrade is now also a multitrack recorder (2 audio tracks), and that's a keyboard!

true. They get dudes buying stuff cause they think its important, when its not, or not really knowing anything, but if its got more feature then its better-this makes sense to just about anybody, because you always want more for your money. But is it really more.

If you can trow in a word, itll make it sound like it has more features even though it doesnt. Or its a feature that really is useless.

The other day i attempted to show, and explain what my mpc is to my brother-inlaw....hes a condisoure of music, and is no dummy; but he was absolutely clueless on everything i showed him....some of his last words where "its a modern day tape recorder"....so it goes to show who these people are selling to; if he wanted to get into producing because he decided he like dr.dre, he'd be perfect.

BTW. i never use the 2 tracks of audio recording on the triton studio...Id rather have a built in dj mixer instead... lol

fluffing- don't they use that on porno sets aswell?

The ASR-10 was also amultitrack recorder (2 stereo tracks)
