How configurate external harddrive with protools LE

Ok,this is not the first time I come with this topic,but I didn't got real feedback ,I mean I need to know where to install protools and how taking full benefit from my external drive (firewire 160Go on mac os 9) that I purchased cause I wuz told that it's highly recommanded with protools.
So I need sharp and precise explanations (tried to connect to this digidesign forum but impossible to log in since they apparently can't send me a password,+ I think this forum is far more friendly)

Just run the install. Pro tools will install to your root directory on your internal drive in a folder called digidesign. When you create a new session, save it on your firewire. That's all there is to it. Pro Tools (the program) will run off your internal drive and will save all your audio and data to the firewire. I guess the "full benefit" is that your computer is able send and retrieve data along two seperate pipes instead of one. Smoother, improved system performance, etc. Its a snap!

Thanx ddot, do you partition ext HD as well?

I don't see the need it you are the only user. Just try to keep your file structure organized. There may be a technical reason but I never heard it.

JUST PARTITIONNED EXT hd 160GB INTO 5 PARTITIONS:4 FOR PROTOOLS AUDIO AND 1 FOR OTHER STUFF.I thought that,by searching datas in smaller volumes, access to these datas would be easier and faster
