looping problems

alright i have a beat i made using 4 bars. on the first track i played out pad one on the first program, that sample was a filtered high. on the second track i played the same sample exactly like the first track but low filterd (bass line). and the rest of the tracks were drums.

so the problem is when i mute the tracks, track one and track two dont unmute until the beat plays back at one. i want them to just come back in wenever i want them 2. sombody help.

are you on jj or akai?

if jj, you can make your samples 'audio tracks' and they will mute and unmute where they are at any given point in time.

not sure about akai.

im using jj os version 3.8. How do u do that? Thanks

Didn't realise that. My solution has been to chop the sample and then reprogram it. This means you can then mute or unmute at the start of each sample section (giving some kind of beat quantise) and also the ability to funk it up and vary the beat later. Even though you've alerted me to the possibility of doing it another way I think I'll personally stick to the long way around for the flexibility it offers

that was some good info there. wasnt quite sure how to mute out long samples when I wanted to. of coarse i never really tried or needed as of yet. thanks for that info.

all these oses and nobody is using the same one. ok i was talkin about xl. if you make your track an audio type, and then load your phrase in, you can mute and unmute at any point, and audio will be there. you dont have to wait till it retriggers, you can cut it off in the middle, all that. good luck.

Just to add here-- All current JJ OS versions (including the free) allow this kind of muting and un-muting of the audio tracks.

how do u make the track an audio track? u mean when i load the sample up into the mp? i just record the sample. i think i know wat ur sayin.

I always use the q-link slider with the level function fo that.

To make an Audio track in JJ OS free version, just go to the last few tracks. Can't remember, either the last 4, or the last 8 tracks are automatically audio tracks. You'll figure it out, pretty easy. Use JJ's online manual.
