MPC5000 ADAT OPTICAL OUTPUTS

Hello all,

I am purchasing an MPC today.. I have ONE major question. this determines what device i am going to purchase.

This posting is to help me better understand ADAT Optical (lightpipping) a tad bit better.

Now

Now can the (8) channels ADAT --- be used at the same time as the (8) analog --- basically allowing (16) total channels OUT of the MPC5000.

Or is this simply a SECOND way to send the (8) channels -- using ONE cable....

I currently have the 003 Factory -- that has ADAT In and Out. My goal is to get as many channels as possible with these devices.

And if this is not the case -- i cannot Achieve (16) channels out--- then i dont see the Turntable preamp and on board Synth engine as a justification to buy the larger item..

Also, does anyone have a comment about this synth---- and ---- is the hard disc recording NOT offered with the 2500? Is this only on the 5000. If so- - what does this do for the 5000 --- does this mean that the 2500 can STORE large amounts -- but you cannot write directly to it --- how does affect sampling?

1. You can use the ADAT out and the analog outs at the same time. However, the ADAT outputs the same audio signals as the analog outs.

2. I don't see a turntable preamp or a synth engine as justification to but they MPC 5000 over the 2500. There are numerous other functions. There are quite a few threads about what the MPC 5000 offers that the 2500 doesn't even more so that OS2.0 has been released. There are too many to quickly write about. There are some that go unnoticed until you actually use them.

The MPC 5000 has improvements to the following modes: Program, Grid Edit, Q-link, Disk, Trim, and Mixer.
