I have the 3.10 OS on the 60... I want to backup a few zip 100 disks on the PC and then move them back to a fresh new zip 100 disk... Theres not alot of detail in the pdf file on how to do this... other than having to have a zip 100 drive on my pc, what else do I do to perfrm this task? I'm using XP Pro also. Thanks.

thats the way its done, you have a dedicated "transfer disk" then load and resave in the mpc60 on a new zip... what you can do is format your transfer disk in the pc with mpceditor, then load the files in the 60 off the original disk, then switch disks, and save to the "transfer disk", then load into pc and repeat... just remember that the pc cant access an mpc formatted disk, so you will have to be swapping disks left and right... :D

I would assume that it does not matter whether I'm using a parallel or scsi zip drive on my pc... I'm currently using a scsi and the pc is not seeing it... I'm thinking maybe the settings on the back of the scsi need to be adjusted to termination on? Thanks fobedafied...

Okay, I had to switch to a parallel zip drive... cool, I try to format the zip disk and the format drop down gives you no drive letters... it gives you two options, one is WDC WD800LB-55DNA0 and the other is IMG VP0... WTF?

I'm realing waiting on Rohan to chime in here...

What are you trying to format the disc with ?
What happens if you go to "my computer" ,right click the zip drive and select "Format" from the pop up menu ?
What was up with the SCSI drive ?

I'm lost... I just want to be able to throw my zip disk from the mpc into the zip drive connected to the pc and be able to copy the files on my pc, then move the files back to a new zip disk that I can throw back in the mpc... basically make a copy of my mpc zip.

Or even throw all my zips from the mpc on the pc and then make one zip of all the songs that I am serious about finishing.

for access in both the pc and the mpc you MUST format the disk with MPCEDITOR...

the rest should just be creative shuffling of the respective disks to get what you want... :)

I get that, I think my problem is that I need to format a new zip disk as opposed to a used one, I have yet to try that... So say I get a new zip and format it, then I do what? throw in my zip from the mp and the app knows what to do now?

That should make no difference at all.

First off, does windows see the Zip drive you have attached to the PC ?
To confirm this try to access it like a normal drive from "Windows explorer" or "My Computer"

The drive you described earlier (WDC WD800LB-55DNA0 ) is your computer hard disk. Do not format that.
Unfortunately you only gave the first 3 digits of the other drive that MPCeditor can see. If you give me the rest I should be able to figure out if it's your zip or not.

Yeah, the pc now sees the zip drive... I got the format process to begin but it seemed to hang up... it looked like it began to make some files on the zip but did not finish... thats as far as I got...

the "Format" MUST be done in MPCEDITOR, not merely formatted by windows itself... the MPCEDITOR "format" function is a "pseudo format" or some other technical term that i am not familiar with... it basicly tricks the 60 into thinking it was formatted by the mpc... thats the only way ive been able to transfer pc sounds in to the 60, MPCEDITOR and a "transfer disk"... once loaded inside the 60, resave files onto your mpc formatted disks FROM RAM... repeat as necessary... :D

Does anyone live in the NYC area? I will gladly pay for your services if you can physically come and set me up. I have an external TDK floppy disk drive and an external Jaz drive. I will provide transportation. I need to get this set up.

or

Can anyone please do a youtube tutorial.

I have done everything in the directions. The MPC3000 keeps saying 'file not found'.

Thx in advance,
