9.1gig harddrive

I feel real dumb... I recently bought a combo drive that contains both cd-rom and a 9.1gig harddrive...Everything works just fine however when I format the harddrive my Mpc2000xl wants to partition the drive in increments of 1G i.e. partition A-F 910Mb. Anyway, It only allows me to save 1Gig of samples then says drive is full. What am I doing wrong...Hit me up at [email protected]. Thanks in advance.

Okay so when i format the harddrive...it says partition size=910mb. Below it states A-J. If I choose A-Z the partition size is smaller in which it only allows me to save 200mb or smaller. Just two questions...What happened to the rest of my 9100mb? How do I choose another partition without re-formatting my drive. Thanks agian.

I'm not at home but cursor down to the part that shows the partition A and use the jog wheel to change it to another partition letter to use. You won't have to reformat the drive to do this.
The MPC is trying to use up all 9Gb in the partitions when you go the A-Z Route. 9100mb/26 partitons A-Z=350mb per partitions. You say you get about 200mb/partion so it's somewhat right.
Which OS are you using? I had to use 1.14 to partition into the A-I of 9??MB to equal the 9Gb internal HD. I can save on all 9 partitons though.

If you are trying to get 1 big 9Gb partition, it won't do it on the MPC.

on the load/save screen you have the ability to select what partition you want to access.

a-z means you have 26 smaller partitions as opposed to the 10 (a-j) 910mb partitions.

a =910mb
b =910mb
c =910mb
.
.
.
and so on, up to J.

Thanks for the explaination and JUKE 179r and Digital, you definetly got me in the right place. I choose to format A-J 910MB. However, one more question...Where is the field the indicates the selection for the partition to be saved? All I see is View:All files below that FILE:Loop_1 below that DEVICE:SCSI 4 HD LOAD, Free memory, and below that TYPE=PC. I just don't see a section where you choose the one partition letter to save.
And I have the 1.2 OS for my MPC2000XL.

That's why... you need 1.14... trust me. I don't know why Akai made OS 1.2 not to allow for more partitions when 1.14 did.
I got a SCSI card reader on mine with the HD and all still works with 1.14.

I can get 1.14 OS no problem but, for example I now loaded samples that took up the first 910mb of the 9.1Gigs. Partition A. How do I access B when I save?

Cursor down to "A" and use the jog wheel to save on another partiton.
I don't have my MPC in front of me but I think that's how I did it.

I am gonna sleep on this...because either I am blind or loosing my mind. I don't see "A" on the Save or Load screens. Don't give up on me. Get back at me when you have your MP. Thanks.

the answer is given. As far as I understand Juke you'll need the OS 1.14 to see this option.

Thanks everybody for helping I did need version 1.14 because 1.2 did not have any option to save to multiple partitions. Who in the hell programmed that You all are the best.
