Still trying to under DAW's...

So, i learned that you have to have a DAW as a host. So, would Pro Tools count as that?


I do plan on getting Reason, and maybe some other programs.


But as far as Soft Synths, if i had more then a few of them, weather it be Native Instruments, or Kontact, Is their a program where i could bring all of them up on?


Like, could I upload them from Pro Tools, or Cubase? Then work from their, An Control The Sounds from a MIDI CONTROLLER or MPC?

Yup Pro Tools and Cubase are DAWS.

Use them as plug ins, they will be opened in Pro tools for example. You will find tutorials on the net, or ask on this forum.

I've found reaper to be the easiest. And it's nagware, you can try it for free. Support it if you dig it.

don't forget that reason CAN'T record stuff.
you can import chopped samples (recycle, dr rex) but you CAN'T record from your MPC of whatever like you can with protools/logic/cubase.

And you can't use VST plug-ins in Reason.

That was the essence of the deal breaker, right there. Slap in any sound from your arsenal, or, refills? Nah....

I read that the Beasties used Reason on the majority of "to the 5 boroghs," for better or worse. It ain't the machine it's the man.

I don't know if you can use VSts in ProTools. Fellaz, is they a RTAS/VST adapter? I know there's a direct x/VST adapter, but that doesn't apply here. It lets me use my vst effects in Acid 4 & Sound Forge 5.
