Is anyone of you lot chopping breaks in to longer chunks instead of singleshots?
All the time...
Have chunks well-chopped on the same mutegroup. In One-Shot mode. I never cut off the ends. So each pad is the break with a different start point. So when you hit another startpoint the last one stops. You can still do patterns that use a new pad every 1/8th or 1/16th note but it sounds more natural when you do it like this if it's chopped right.
Or..
Have chunks on one shots, not on mute groups, with decay on each so that they overlap just a little bit.
And (used in conjunction with either of the above):
Have the same chops (sample3 and sample3) on two different pads with two different EQs and or Filters. Have them quantized to start at the same time, and adjust the EQ and/or filters til it sounds fat as shit.
Or...
Have chops of a break, like above, and take a kick out of it too. Fatten the kick a shitload and layer it on top. Repeat for snares and other drums if you want too.
I got more...
