Record In Problems

Well, I got a problem.

First I thought it was my Numark PT-01, but when I tried to sample from my computer from a 1/8" to RCA w/ 1/4" adapters I still could not hear anything w/o having to turn up BOTH the Record Gain and the Main Volume knobs and the sound is still very weak.

The same thing happens w/ the PT-01.

The levels are low and dont even reach the -20 threshold.

I also turned the threshold to 0.

I hooked up one of the RCA's to one of the preamps of my MOTU Ultralite just to see what would happen and the signal was boosted, the levels were higher but all i got was static.

The PT sounds fine when I hook it up to my stereo.
The PT has a built in preamp and has Line level outs.

If anyone has an answer and a possible fix, I would be grateful.

If i would have to fix the Record Ins, would i have to change the jacks(if possible) or would I have to buy a new MPC?

Im using a PC laptop w/ the headphone outs since those are the only outs on my laptop..

and Yes the volume in my computer is set all the way up also.

on your laptop, you might have a control panel other then the windows standard properties screen... anyhow, on my laptop I have the option to change the headphone out into a line out. maybe look into that.. (my pc has a seperate green port for line out but the laptop gives me the option)

it happens when trying to sample from my laptop or PT-01.

The levels are too low.

I have to turn both the Record and Volume up all the way to hear anything.

The levels on both the laptop and PT-01 are also all the way up when I try to sample from either one.

I also change the threshold from the -20 that its always on to 0.

Still the same problem.

i would guess that record ins are **** up. try sample in mono.
