I just bought an ASR-10 to use with my MPC3000 but I'm mad confused about how to do so.

From what I understand the ASR-10 is mad arkward to use with any external seqeuncer (in my case, an MP) cus of it's 8 instrument design etc. (I don't plan to use the one in the ASR cus it's mad basic)

I wanna use the MPC to sequence and the ASR-10 for samples.

Can someone run me through the best set-up for the above configeration.

Since most MPCs are similar as far as sequencers, it doesn't matter which one you have. As long as it's hooked up to an ASR-10 and you use it how I'm hoping to, then I'l apriciate any help/ advice you can give.

Peace

I'm just gopnna give you basic responses, since I don't have a ASR10. But you should do a quick search here for "ASR10." If that doesn't work, folks have described this procedure numerous times in relation to the Triton and Motif. So also search "Triton and MPC" or "Motif and MPC." The process is similar on the MPC end, but the ASR10 will need to b set up to receive midi info on various midi channels and you'll need to assign that as well as you audio output channles in the ASR10.

For info on that ASR stuff, go to www.synthzone.com and look through the Ensoniq/Ensonic pages.

Peace.

Thanks for the response homershine

I actually have the Triton and had no problem hooking it up to my MPC. The ASR-10 is proving more difficult. If you've ever used one you'll know what I mean. It's got a 8 channel structure (not 16) with alot of button presses to do simple midi routings.

I tried the link you mentioned already but cus the ASR is discontinued, most links are outdated and non-exhistent.

That's why I was hoping to get someone with a similar set-up (mainly an ASR-10) to help me out.

Aslo had no luck with the search engine... I'm on a mad slow connection. Everytime I search for something it takes forever and doesn't stop.

Can anyone else offer some advice?

The midi hook up on the ASR is really simple

The ASR should be setup as follows:

Edit------>System/Midi-------->Multi
Edit------>Instrument---------->Midi

This will allow you to use 8 channels of midi from the ASR to your MPC.
Be sure to set the corresponding Instrument number to the Midi channel on the MPC

For Example, midi channel 1 on the MPC = Instrument 1 on the ASR.

Hope that helps.
