How many outs do you use in recording to your daw?

so i learned that the assignable mixouts are basically just three (1/2, 3/4 and the phones).

before buying an mpc i thought i would be eventually eq'ing and compressing each kick,snare,hihat,etc. separately in my daw (coming from a reason background).

on to my question,
how do you record your mixouts into your daw? do you just use a single stereo track or all high-freq stuff in one track and all the lowend stuff in the other?

How did you come up with that? And what machine are you talking about?

the 1000 is six outs...r l stereo tracks and 1-4 assignable outs

I record kick on one track, snare on another, hats on another, bass on another, samples/synths on my stereo tracks and panned

on the 2500 you can dump each pad which would be 8 outs if thats what you mean

I use the 8 assignable outputs on the 2kxl.

i track 4 at a time with the 1k. i would do 6, but i am to impatient to turn off all of the other pads that go out of L/R.

btw, im running akai os (which might be the problem),

when i go to the l/out screen of mixer mode,
i can only choose from three options (st, 12, 34)


how are you able to send those tracks as mono?

if your sound is mono, you can send it to 1 output only i guess, on the 2000xl it's that way!

so i loaded up jjos1 and it seems now i can send it to the mono outs.
can anyone confirm that this cant be done in akai os?

On the Akai OS just select one of the stereo pairs, Then pan hard left. Now route your next sound to same output and pan it to the right. Do this for each output pair and you'll have six mono outs.

yeah this was exactly what i was thinking man, i just thought that showing each individual output would be so much easier. thanks
