mpc1000 recording problem

wats up y'all?..im a newbie at this whole music production and it"s driving me crazy lol some of y'all pro's make that s*&t!! look easy lol...aight let get to work, i just bought a mpc 1000 on eBay and i did a lil bit of homework on youtube since i don't have the book manual..im having a lil problem on the timing every time i try to recorded a beat it overdub and it sound totally off beat...is there a way i can fix it so i doesnt overdub?..holla @ me..1

In that manual look up quantize. Thats the first place I would look for what you are describing.

ayo i appreciated the help fam,i found out about the t.c and i have mine set on 1/16(3) but it still off a lil bit better then before but still off lol is there something i have to do?..let me know fam..1

that (3) means triplets. try just 16.

i did it last night i had my bars on 8 my swing from 50-60%(kept playing with the swing to get it right)it still sound off

Then either the samples start points need to be modified or you are just playing off timing.

i think that wat im doing wrong im playing off timing.
