Basically I'm getting a HDM10 with a HDD to install into the MPC1000, and I'm going to put my entire drum library on there. At the moment, I have my favourites on the CF card, but I've already seen that like half of these don't play/work and then some don't even appear on the MPC file browser at all! What type etc WAV files should these all be?

I tried a quick search for in general but I dunno - maybe I didn't look hard enough but I also got another question too lol!

Whats the best way to convert a large amount of WAV files? I imagine there's a bespoke program out there somewhere that could perhaps do the job?

Any help is appreciated, thanks! (Specifically, the MPC1000 under JJOS1)

16bit, 44.1kHz sample rate.

Full Soundforge is best for batch processing (you can use demo for 30 days free if you haven't downloaded it in the past.) Or Wavosaur does do batch processing but it's a little clunky (no process list, wont do sub-folders, have to browse from root to sample directory each time you want to do a new one) but it does do the job and is free.

Dang P, Hard way to find that one out. I didn't have that much but definitely had the same issue.

.. if you're looking for an awesome batch converter to get stuff to 16 bit I've just used a cool prog called AudioMove to convert a whole set of drums from 24 bit.

It'll convert a ton of formats to 16/44.1 batch while PRESERVING the directory structure, and it's free / GPL - WAY too awesome!

poundaproblem wrote:to add to that. Sample names are limited to 16 characters. Anything more than that wont play.

They will play the sample but you will not be able to load more than one sample onto the machine which share the first 16 characters.

That Audiomove program was actually ridiculously good - put all the settings in, put threads on 2 (since I'm on a dual core laptop) and had it replace files rather than make a new set. Dragged the folders and watched it go! ITS SO DAMN FAST. The amount of effort and time this saves is immense, I was tempted to do it for everything lol!
