I was cleaning up and organizing my Cf & accidently deleted the bin file. After erasing it, I immediately dl'd the bin file from Akai & put it back on the cf card. The thing is I didnt reinstall the os figuring it wasnt needed since it was already on the mpc.
The next day when my boy was adding to his pgm and creating a seq the mpc all of a sudden lost all sounds on pad/pgm but we were still able to play the recorded seq by pressing play on the mpc. not sure if this could of been caused by deleting the bin or related to recent ram upgrade.

What do you guys think?

The .BIN file doesn't need to be on the CF after you do a firmware update.

The firmware gets written to the MPC's ROM and it's done with it. Feel free to trash it.

I guess that just leaves the ram upgrade. I heard the bugs start once you start creating larger progs after upgrading ram. I hope its not that common. I'll play with it some more tonite when i get home from work...

Latest firmware and erasing all previous settings is the ticket if you haven't done so already. I seriously can't remember having a crash since 1.31 came out and that was almost a year ago now.

Same here, had my MPC 500 for a year & half now with the ram upgrade and regularly loading massive programs and I haven't had one single crash, I don't even know what a MPC crash looks like, lol (knock on wood)

I guess its not a glitch & just had to hit mode program again.anytime prog is missing. Not sure why it was missing in the first place, if it was just loaded & i was playing sounds from it. Glad Its nothing serious though. Sorry for the rookie mistake. lol
