last resort..

ok so i installed the diy cf reader into my 2000xl and it worked right up until yesterday,,i installed a new screen and all of a sudden the cf reader wont work now..
it says
atapi*(i believe thats how it was spelled) then has ???? next to it..
so i installed a dif diy card reader and an error came up saying bp something or other...
so i installed a third diy card and now it says no floppy found???

after the very first time,i upgraded the os to 1.2 and it worked fine,,,it still has the upgraded os on it...

my guess is,im going to have to reinstall the original os and then reinstall the newer one..

my question is,,i destroyed my floppy in the proccess of converting it into a flash reader,,so can i buy any old floppy and somehow install it to get me going again??
any help would be appreciated,thanx!!!!

ok so let me ask this question...if i bought a internal cf kit off ebay...how would i go about being able to load it?

one more question,,,what if i bought an internal cd drive for a computer??would that work?...

ok so i bought a zip drive and it freezes the mpc when i connect it...
but im pretty much talking to myself here anyhow

So, how you got it? I had the same problem with the Spyrus. In my 2kxl it is working fine but in a friend's 2kxl it give me the same message next to the ATAPI : ?

i know exactly what u have to do...

one of 2 things

my card was formated fat32..el wrongo - it needed to be just "fat"

and because my os was stuck on the latest..it wouldnt read the zip drive..

what does ur friend use to hold his samples?
zip,cf,cd,dvd,or,floppy?

i needed the original os for it to recognize the zip,and the fat32

or i needed the latest os(wich i had) but i need the cf card formated at "fat"....

big frigin headache figuring this out..

thats why i just put an internal zip on mine, set the pins in the back to "master" and haven't messed it with since..

haha..good luck though, i got over a hundred floppy drives, and some internal zip drives laying around if you need em..
