why wouls that be impossible?
connect the midi ( in to out, out to in) set up a midi channel on the mpc, and record.
I knew a guy that used a 2000 w/ a xp80 no problems.

I'm just trying to get a perspective on this issue so I can figure it out for you... Do you have 2 MIDI cables connected between your Roland and your MPC? One from an MPC's OUT to the Roland's IN, and one from the Roland's OUT to the MPC's IN?
Let me know, because if you answer my question, I'll be able to figure it out for you. But I just have to get some bearing on it first.
Thanks.

I'm not sure if its the same but, I sequence the XP-10 and the JV-1080 at the same time and I haven't had any problems with either.
It's your average set up. XP midi out to MPC midi in 1, MPC midi out a to JV midi in, MPC midi out b to XP in.
I save all my midi info (MSB, LSB, PROGRAM CHANGE) in the sequence to keep from having to reset them each time I load a song (or save as a user performance on the JV).
