Any one know whats up with my mpc 2000xl ive tried to intall the v1.2 it loaded ok it asked to press any button to restart then it restarted and now it just says on the screen loading:mpc2kxl.bin and just stays there also all the lights stay on i installed this from version 1.11 also if i take the disc out it keeps asking for the disc
any help could save me £70 or more

that happens when you have a bad floppy, get a new disc, download the os again and copy to the disc then boot from the disc, once you booted then load the update in and it should be fine

that screen is in case the flash write goes wrong, it defaults to load the os from floppy, so the first load is just loading the os, you then need to flash again once you got it booted from floppy otherwise youll always get that asking for disc message, since it jsut loads the os and doesnt flash the rom until you tell it to

Hey thanks so let me clarify this i just get a new floppy disc go to a pc with a floppy install 0s v.120 again on it
take it back to my mpc stick it in and then it should start up ok right. i stupidly formated the original boot disc for the 1.2 update to save me buying a new floppy will this still work or do i need the original boot disc version 1.1 or will 1.20 start up just fine?i wont need to format the floppy disc as well will i?

yes do this

1. get new floppy
2. format on pc
3. copy os to floppy
4. boot mpc from floppy
5. once booted, load firmware from floppy
6. press key to restart
7. all done

remeber that when you boot from the floppy its just loading the os into ram, its not writing the flash, so once booted you need to load the os file to start the flash write
