keep the XL..

you can add effects in your mixing using protools.. fx card is pointless..and very expensive

and for those who wanna say "what about live performance effects??"

sample the sound back into your mp with effects from pro tools..

8 outs is awesome, i have 002R with 8 inputs..makes tracking beats a breeze..

anything built after the 2000xl, personally, is garbage..the XL was the last AKAI release, everything newer is from the nu-mark alliance..quality control took a hefty budget cut im guessing lol

enough ramblin..

Fung45 wrote:If you've sampled in stereo and don't want to use up 8 outs on 4 sounds or waste time converting them all to mono you can assign 2 sounds to the same 2 outs and pan them hard left and hard right respectively to only utilize 1 out each. I think Kev Brown does this in that video of him chopping an eddie floyd sample

That's weird cause on my 2K Classic, all the sounds come out "unpanned" out of the 8 outputs. Seems like the panning is only for the stereo out. Can somebody confirm this?

Well I sold my 1K

And now I have an XL, I just need to get the 8 outs, but I'll worry about that when I a Command 8 or 003 or something.

it comes down to who you ask. people who use 1000's swear by it, but the same goes for 2000xl owners. my boy tried convincing me for the longest time to go with a 1000. it all comes down to what you personally want to do with your music. the little extra sh!t the 1000 does, i would not use anyways, and i REALLY dont like the pads. even if you get the expensive pad upgrade, they still are too small and close together for my tastes. in my eyes its a just a MPC500 with a traditional mpc style screen, but thats just my .02 cents.

reading this article is what made me go with a 2000xl

8 outs doesn't suck, it's awesome for recording.

and the chassis of the 1000 isn't plastic.

wtffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

it is counter productive for people to have to keep correcting misinformation, yowza

Hey, is your panning working out your 8 outputs? I have a 2k and it doesn't!

To me, it is counter productive when I pan everything perfectly on my MPC and have to re-pan everything in my computer after recording all individual tracks out of the 8 outputs :x
