after talking to a guy from akai yesterday he pretty much said the 5k is done.maybe a few bugs but done.i believe we will see a bug fix with maybe small additonal features.

I suspect you are correct. A minor bug fix patch. If they come with a real flagship soon then I won't mind because I would rather have a better spec MPC than the 5k. Otherwise, it really needed another major update to reach its potential. I hope at least there is something better coming soon.

I agree,I've been using mpc's for twenty years when Akai's corporate office was in
Dallas. The rep's are still the same when it comes to updating OS's. There will be

If anyone believes or listens to you, THEY should jump out of a window.... Being a former owner of a 2kXl, 4k and current owner of the 5000 and 1000. I am a long time lurker and have a hard time remembering you posting something informative, or information that was correct. My boy Masada2502 has more musical knowledge, and definitely has more knowledge of MPC's and the inner workings at Akai than you think........If you only knew. Seriously.

I can't believe how much it seems the latest range of MPCs are a step backwards from the older models, not moving forwards. Less RAM. Still no SATA. Lower quality PCBs. Bad Data Wheels (maybe not on your 5k.) Thing is a lot of this older technology is actually at least as expensive as the more modern stuff as it's becoming obsolete so all that is available is the last of the reserves, I honestly don't think Nukai thought it out properly when designing these things and just trusted on the name to sell them, which unfortunately worked on me. Although I'm sure I'll still get some good usage out of my 2k5.

What you said might be true HIGH198, but it still doesn't answer the question:

if an akai rep tells a customer that OS 2 is currently out, yet its not out, then why should I believe Akai or your boy?

There's obviously communication differences within akai/numark...

1. Hopefully it doesnt take half a year to release a bug fix update.

2. Dont buy an MPC because its the Flagship model.

3. Dont get mad when a bigger badder model comes out.

4. I always thought a high post count on any forum was a bit suspect. Especially MPC forums, sorry to sink your boat but for the MOST part this is an amateur forum. If you have a high post count you probably answered or asked alot of newbie questions. Of course your supposed to contribute. A high post count on say gearslutz is not the same as future producers forum or mpc forums.

4. Not necessarily true. Gearslutz and FP are two of the worst forums on the net. Very unprofessional with the exception of some of their gear reviews. You should have said Tweakheadz forums.
