ok, so somebody beat me to telling you to RTFM (read the **** ing manual) so instead I will tell you what you need to know as long as you dont skip out on reading it... because when you think you know everything the mpc can do the manual still teaches you more unless you infact read the manual already.
so in "trim" you may have used the jog wheel to highlight sections of a sample (something you recorded into the mpc) and you have a part highlighted that you think sounds good. great, now push "edit" and turn the jog wheel again. you will see a few options. the first option that it shows keeps the highlighted part and deletes the rest that is not highlighted. click "do it" and you will see the wave form of the sample change. now the part you highlighted is spread across the screen.
ok now push main screen, and go to "program" (shift+6 if I remember correct) and push F1... you will be in the screen where you set up the sounds on the pads you want. find a pad with nothing on it by pushing them untill you hear nothing.... now you will have seen the "note" change somewhere on the screen. now use the arrow keys and go down to where it says "OFF" and turn the wheel untill you see the name of your new sample. push the pad to confirm that it is correct....
push main screen.
use the arrow keys to go down to the thing that says "track" at the bottom left. turn the joh wheel untill it says "track_02_unused" (or something like that).
now push "record+play" and push your new sample in when you want it.
this is for the 2000xl...
now that you got your freebie.................... RTFM! cause it will make your beats sound like dilla, madlib, and kanye.
