Is this for real, or am I misunderstanding this:


8. New Timing Correct / Step Size options:

* 1/128 and 1/192 timing correct OFF note value resolutions added.
1/4, 1/4TRPLT, 1/64, 1/64TRPLT timing correct note value resolutions added.

Thanks, I didn't realize that many are using aftermarket OS! Just to clarify, you're telling me that the 192 PPQ resolution is legit, right?

Aright cool but somebody come out and say it... it gives the mpc3000 sequencer a resolution of 196 parts per quarter note (PPQ)? I'm considering a 3000 with the 3.5.

It seems real crazy to me since I'm so used to the JJ aftermarket OS... where they said improving the sequencer resolution could not be done

You're misunderstanding this ... :-)

PPQ is related to system resolution.

TIMING CORRECT or QUANTIZE VALUE is related to divisions of PPQ counts over a 4 bar measure count total.

PPQ * MEASURE COUNT / DIVISION == TIMING CORRECT or QUANTIZE VALUE.

See some examples below.

The PPQ is still 96 PPQ, and no claims are made to the contrary.

The TIMING CORRECT values since day one and per the original manual have been related to divisions of the PPQ count TOTAL when counted out over a 4 bar measure.

1/384 : OFF / NO QUANTIZE which is equal to 96 PPQ * 4.
1/192 : ( or 1/128 T ) is equal to 96 * 4 / 2
1/128 : is equal to 96 * 4 / 3

The specifications stated are legit.

As for Vailixi 2.5 ? It's been Vailixi 3.50 for some time now.

With previous versions of the AKAI MPC3000 OS.

IE: Versions 3.00 to 3.11

The OFF / NO Timing Correction / Quantize value was 1/384.

1/128 and 1/192 timing correct OFF note value resolutions were added in Vailixi for those who found that 1/384 was TOO off for their playing skills.

1/192 == Not as OFF as 1/384.
1/128 == Not as OFF as 1/192.

As a lot of folk liked working with the timing correct set to OFF.

These two options enhanced the OFF factor by being, well ... not as OFF.

IE: A little bit more forgiving.

In traditional 1/384 mode. Any events played would go in at the nearest 1/384 position within the 96 PPQ range.

1/192 half again.

...and so on.

Pretty straight forward if you take into account my previous explanatory post.

i just got the MPC3000LE + AKAI OS 3.11 off Ebay and really impressed and shocked by its timing correct/swing difference
against the MPC1000 + JJOS XL that i have been using,

i am not a scientist and cannot explain what it does ...
but it defenitely grooves differently with the same swing values set as would JJ OS for example...

Sorry for maybe stupid question, BUT:

Does Vailixi OS 3.5 keeps the original magic "mojo" agorythm of Roger Linn programming
and just adds extra timing correction features/improvements
or
does it differs altogether from the AKAI 3.11 swing/timing in better or worse way?

96PPQN to 960PPQN can't be done.
