the guy is obviously new to MPC's. if we answer this question that could be found in the manual, he'll just ask another question that can be found in the manual. if you didnt know you could download a manual... cool. but now you know so get it and read it.

diggin for answers is just like diggin for records. when you find an answer to a question that you have not asked for, its like finding a gem in the bargain bin. dig brotha dig.

I wanna chime in on this.

When I was a n00b, still am, I read the manual. I asked very few questions about this machine and have offered help when I knew the answer. But you have to exert yourself a little bit here. You bought a drum machine, not a toy.

I think this is what separates the music lovers/music makers from fanboys. Are you just making music because you can or are you serious about it. As well as I am doing in my career, $500 - $1200 dollars is still allot of money to for a "I think I want to make music for fun" hobby. I won't sell my beats because this is a hobby for me but, I read what I was supposed to and found this site at the same time and have gone through these posts with a fine tooth comb.

When I got my MPC I had VERY little knowledge of music notes, quantize, all that stuff but reading really helped me. I use to break dance and only saw people break and never asked questions but practiced, practiced and did some more practicing. The point is, if you want it bad enough, you won't rely on others for the knowledge except only the most complex of questions. Computer DAWs are great examples of why I might ask questions... but as complex as the MPC can be, it's still a straight forward machine that should be fun or attractive to the user to experiment with and make mistakes with and enjoy the success'.

I sometimes think Rich_Biatch goes over board with the RTFM, but he's got a point. I read and am better for it.

My 7 cents.

Thanks for the free post.

And one more thing.

If your here long enough, you'll see it's like family round here. We fight like brothers and sisters but we do answer questions and go to great length to help but if your not willing to do your "hobby" justice and read the manual... you open yourself to ridicule. It's the same thing as riding a bike for the first time... you have to get back on when you fall.

It's not like you have to dig very far around here, either, to find diamonds. I ran the ink out my printer printing ish I found here (or found out about here). This was before I placed my first bid on my MPC.

??? No, the whole point of forums is to search for the answer to your question. That's why every help-oriented forum on Earth has a sticky about the "search" function. If you exauhst this resource, then, and only then, your search for the answer has led you to the fuction known as the "post". Word. I love to help noobs.

i love to help n00bs if it looks like they helpin theyselves... its like doing your own term paper vs plagiarizing.

the whole point of a forum is to search archived text that has been written before. thats why its searchable. and its so easy! all questions can be answered that way.

and if you dont find an answer using the search above, google is a great, sometimes better, alternative.

so search, n00bs! dont burden us who already know.
