Trying to make up my mind between...

What up ya'll? Been here for a while checking out the forum and I must admit I've learned some really good stuff from most of you so thank's for the priceless info.

I've already got myself set up with a small studio at my spot which I'll post pictures of at a later time but for now I am faced with a dilemma that I want to put up for discussion up in here.

I recently been looking for an MPC that I can take with me on the road because I travel some every now and then and I find myself coming up with some crazy ideas but no MPC to work on because I hate taking apart my system at home to drag my 5000 along. Besides that thing is a beast to drag around.

I am trying to decide between an MPC2500le (mint condition) for $1500.00 u.s. or an MPC1000 ("no" HD) and two Technics SL-1210M5G's for about $1300.00 u.s. and the dude will even throw in the Odyssey coffin. And his little set up is practically brand new! I think he got it and it didn't work out the way he thought it would. Something like abracadabra I'm a producer now type of deal.

Now I've got the money for either-or but I have never messed with the 1000 and I'm not too sure how solid this would be when I'm out and about. This dude I know takes his 2500 w/him whenever he comes w/me so I've seen that it can take a beating and therefor why I want to get some feedback.

By the way I'm not even considering the 500 because I plan on getting the JJOS for either the 1000 or 2500.

So there you have it! What would you do? And yes my friends I did do a search first just in case someone was faced with something like this too but no luck.

Yeah I dont know, it's a dilema. I would probably go for the 1000 with the tables because not only is it less money, but you get a pair of good tables also which could wind up being a lot of fun... especially with things like serato these days, you never know if you feel like trying out that type of stuff.

I am not exactly clear though, is it a used 1000 with tables for $1300... or a 2500 with the tables also for $1500? or is it just straight up the 2500 for $1500? if it's the same guy selling both, and the tables are included.... go for the 2500.

Thank's for the welcome mr_debauch. You know I was thinking about the same thing when it came to getting the TT's also, "Serato". Although I have never used it before I have seen it in action and I think I could ultimately benefit from it too.

Unfortunately the 1000 is used and thats the MPC that comes with the TT's and it's not the same guy that is selling the 2500. Otherwise I would have tried to work something out with him. I must say that I checked out the 1000BK today and it is in tip top shape also, has the new pads on it. The decks are just as flawless too! It's like this dude just bought them and starred at them or something because they are too clean.

It's just crazy cause I know I need either or for when I'm not home and I gave the dude a few hundred to hold the 2500le just about a week and half ago because thats the one I saw first. He's so cool about it that he even said that if I went with the 1000 package he understood because he knows my situation. He's only selling point to me on the 2500 was "Think about it and let me know before I get the urge to spend the money" Now I've bought stuff from dude before so I know he's not full of ish, and he said he's saving the money because he wants to get the new Linn when it comes out if it ever does?

I took my 1k anywhere in my backpack. It can take a beating, but I think the 2500 might has a better build quality.

I have both the 2500 and the 1k. The 2500 feels more like a desktop to me. IMO it's too big to carry around.

You already have a 'big' mpc, so buying an 2500 for the home lab wouldn't be the deal I guess. The 1k and the 2500 both have the same capabillities. Except for the screen and the outs. But tracking out is probably something u do with the 5000 in ur studio? Then u won't miss those 4 outs when u'r on the road.The 1k is really designed for portabillity.

I think I would go for the 1k, unless u want more workspace instead of backpack space.

Hey what's happening Menco! Thank's for the reply in regards to the 1000. I was pretty close to getting it but decided to go with the 2500.

You're absolutely right about it being bulky and all to carry around in a backpack but after spending a few hours at a Guitar Center working on both, it was the feel of one vs the other that finally got my attention. I'm just glad I know one of the dudes that works there otherwise they probably would have thrown my a** out. But I do it all the time so I think they're getting use to seeing my mug around there.

Anyway I'll be picking up the 2500 this coming weekend from dude and probably going to buy a case for it if not a carry bag that fits it.

I will post pictures of my spot once I figure out how to do it. I tried doing search on how to post but I think I confused myself reading it because I got lost after a minute. If one of you dudes wants I can e-mail them to you so you can help me post because I think I reached retardation trying to figure it out. This way ya'll can see what my wife calls "The most expensive CD player in the world".

I've got a 2k5 and a Virus B and they fit together in my backpack no trouble (and it's not a massive one.) It's a little heavy but not impossible. Perfect for the late-shifts at my work. Do sometimes think I should of gone with the 1k though...
