I listen to hip-hop music (I worship The RZA like you wouldn't believe!) but I have no desire to replicate it. Most of the hip-hop stuff that is out today is utter sh** and I really wouldn't want to contribute to that.

I don't 'do' sampling in the traditional sense, not often at least. If there's a nice hit on a record that I can use, I will do, but I don't go farming vinyl for breaks. 99% of what I use is material that I have cooked up myself; lots of organic sounds.

I love my 500!

Hi. I just bought an MPC500, which should be here next week, and that's precisely the type of music I want it for. Could you tell me more about how you use it?

I have plenty of synths and a few drum boxes (Korg ER-1 and ES-1, Boss DR-770), but I was really missing a decent sampler (the ES-1 is cool but quite limited), so I bought the 500 to fill that space, but I'd like to know if there's something else it could be good for.

I don't have time to answer this thoroughly right now, but I will soon... promise!
