Keyboard And MPC 2000

Alright ill probably get a lot of crap for this question but please bare with me...Alright i recently bought a Yamaha PSRe413 and i want to connect it to my, u guessed it, mpc 2000. so yeah if i connect it via midi will i be able to record via midi. and if i can please explain it to me ...so yeah please help me out...i mean i know i could connect it in the record in...but im wondering can i record live using midi please let me know...the reason why im asking now because i havent bought the midi cable yet so i dont know if it would work...

yeah man, connect your midi out on the keyboard to the midi in on the mpc.
make sure midi is on your mpc (shift+midi)
and just hit record and BAM you should have sound from your keyboard on the mpc

i think i fell for that the first time i got an mpc,

Btorres, the only idea i can come up with is, when you hook up the midi cables, have the headphone jack run to your mixer or have it run thru like a mobile preusb to your computer

yeah man good look i just really needed to see if i needed to buy a midi cable but yeah from there ill figure it out thanks
