no but i wish.... maybe i should make that my handle, that dude sounds solid...

Just a question for those in favor of selling the 500... besides the mobility what will i lose as far as capabilities?

and i know its a really broad question, but what are some major things i gained by purchasing the 2000xl?

you loose 128mb ram, usb drag and drop, resampling the main output, built in effects and mute groups

i may have missed something, not sure.

ive also got both, the 2000xl sounds way better, better pads, better screen, you can get optiins for outs and fx. It's not complicated at all, its just a little different from the 500, so spend a few days with it and loose those 500 habits and youll see the workflow is much better.

i dunno how to use mute groups, i'm not much for effects, and i have never recorded main so i am not to worried.

but what am i gaining? like what general things.

learned how to use the chop features on it today......

i am greatly pleased thus far, and the sound on it is SOOOOOOO much better. 808's actually sound like 808's. lol.

did i pay to much for it though??

if so i guess you win some you lose some considering i payed 420 for my 500 at guitar center new, when it first came out and was selling for 6 hundred something.

just bought the xl few weeks ago, still got the 500, i want to sell the 500, but still not really sure about that. the first week with xl was hard, but now i think i know the basics and i'm really happy with 2000xl, it really sounds way better. the 4 more pads are a benefit... some things i miss, like the fx, i know they arent that good on the 500 but they worked for me, especially the filters, the usb drag n drop thing was pretty cool on the 500, this feature i miss the most, but some day i will get an usb floppy or zip drive to get my files from pc to mpc.

You would be surprised how cheap USB floppy drives are -- you can usually pick them up off eBay for less than $15 shipped... I would not hesitate to pick one up if you see it as an obstacle to your creativity.

BTW, if you didnt know, there is a FX add on card for the 2000/2000XL called the EB 16.

yeah, the prices for usb floppy drives are mad cheap, in germany you'll get them for 13,50euro incl. shipping, i will get one soon i think... and yes i heard from the eb16, but its hard to get in germany and therefore its pretty expensive, i'll just the use the fx of my daw when tracking to it (which mostly never happens cause i always end up with unfinnished 4 to 8 bar loops  )
