4k for 3k are you fuking serious.

No I'm not.

Sound is different. But, I'm gonna stick with my mpc 4k for a few reason:

First it's in great shape, pads are barely used.

The usb connection allows me to backup my stuff, and hd to store my samples and drum kits.

The sound is great anyway, and ill do like itslikezacanduh said, and get a 3k along the 4k.

I need a ms2000 for now anyway. Anybody got one?

Hey man. 4K stands somewhere between those old and new MPC series. All MPC's differs in sound, but 4K simply provides new MPC's functios with sound closer to this older MPC's. If you want specialize in some type of beats then maybe it's and option to consider, but making music must be comfortable not problematic. With 3000 you'd be probablly happy, but you would like to have this and that and you won't. We live in 21th century in the era of computers and it's hard to switch like this for us. We are used to this options and it can really make our work comfortable of course you can always find workaround, but sometimes simple is the best and it can save a lot of time. Thats how I see it, MPC 4K can do many things for you and you can do many things on it.

What happened to the days of running your stuff through pres and whatnot to gain the color or sound you're looking for?

Not switch out your gear in hopes of getting the same results.

BUMP!
Posted few times in this thread and was a 4K defender , but now I'm in the same situation. I'm mostly about switching 4K because I would like to use software sampler and I found out that memory is not a thing for me. So how about Z4/8 vs software sampler? I'm asking this 'cus if I will switch I'll do it for MPC3000 + software.

The 3000 and the 4000 are the best MPC's. Just add a MPC3000 to your setup. You will love it!!!! I loving the 60II with 3.10 upgrade. (Same as the 3000)

Sell the MPC 4000 and buy 3000, you might even save couple hundred bucks.

I'll trade you my 3000. I've got 2 of them. Remember the 8-outs are standard on the 3000.

I have never owned the 3k, but I have to say it was made in Japan so the build quality has got to be better than the 4k that is made in China.

The 3k also has an option for a VGA output 4k does not.

You can now install a card reader in the 3k so no more floppy or zip disk!!

Truth be know I'm kind of wanting one.
