Video tutorial on isolating sounds with Photoshop

As a follow up to this thread I just posted a video tutorial on how you can reproduce this or isolate other instruments with Photosounder and Photoshop (or equivalent).

It will be. I had emailed them a while ago. I dl'ed the trial for pc and it was dope. But it ate a TON of power so i feel it would be used better on my mac anyways.

no effing way. i don't get it. when you're erasing whatever it is that you want isolated, be it a synth, voice, or drums, photoshop will automatically detect the layers? did that make sense? because this some scientific breakthrough ish right here.

This is amazing!!! After reading this thread the other day, I immidately researched this further. I found out I can do pretty much the same thing in Adobe Audition 3 !!!!! Adobe Auditon 3 will let you convert sound spectral information into a bitmap format to edit and modify in a graphics program like Photoshop or GIMP. Then you can save the modified bitmap and import it back into Adobe Audition 3 to listen to the results.

I've experimented with this and very surprised by the results!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can agree with one of the previous posts though. It is time consuming. However, the efforts are well worth it if you can achieve the sound you're looking for. In some cases, this might be the only way to do it.
