install hard drive in mpc 2000xl

hi there, just found an old ide 8,4gb hard disk and i want to put it in my mpc. i visited http://www.mpc2000xl.com/Internalhd.htm and found this adapter http://cgi.ebay.de/Yamaha-SCSI-Converte ... dZViewItem
is that all i need?

It might work but it's easier with a laptop hd. Not to Mention the trying to disapate the heat and having hardly any room for a big azz hd. Stick with a laptop hd. That's what I did.

thx i checked the space thats no problem but is that all i need or do i need some more adapters to set the hd in my mpc?

and how do i plug the cables? would be kool if could help me

Man... it's been 2 years since i did it.
Just follow the tutorial on http://www.mpc2000xl.com/Internalhd.htm.
The 2 parts that I really needed (the IDE to SCSI converter and the 2.5" SCSI to IDC50 converter) i got off of ebay for dirt cheap.
Like in the tutorial, I had to remove the angle bracket for the 8Meg Flash board to fit it properly between the motherboard and the front of the metal casing.
I used a large pad of heavy duty velco to keep the HD unit in place when the MPC is moved around. It helps to cushion the HD also when I bang on the pads.
The laptop HD doesn't get that hot so I didn't have to drill holes in the bottom to disapate any heat.
Next on my list (when I find time) is to extend the leads of the "in use" LED to somewhere on the front panel. Maybe on the flip up screen for easier viewing just to show that the HD actually working like on a computer.

You'll probably have to get a SCSI cable t ogo from the motherboard to the IDE to SCSI converotr.
For me with a SCSI card reader, I used a rounded SCSI cable to manuever around easier in side of the MPC.


Also you will need to alter the power plug. One connection goes from the main board, one goes to your floppy/Zip/Card reader drive and the other connection goes to the IDE to SCSI convertor.
