Holy shit, just tried this and it works like a charm!

I tested the following:
3 octave range (volts per octave)
V-trigger gate
Various sampled lfo's, noise, etc.
Audio rate FM
Clock pulse
:!: :!: :!:

Wasn't sure (and still am not) if the mpc 2500 had DC coupled outputs, so I was kind of afraid to try this but just said **** it.

For those that haven't seen Motu's upcoming Volta plug-in, this is what's going on: http://createdigitalmusic.com/2009/01/1 ... aphically/

Motu interfaces have DC coupled outputs, meaning they allow a positive voltage to pass through them and control cv analog gear. Folks have been doing this for a while, but I thought it would be nice to be able to without a computer and interface.

This means:

No need for a midi/cv convertor
Project synced LFO's and CV automation (provided the CV samples are at your project tempo or you speed them up/ slow them down in the mpc's program screen.
Clock sync and divisions (tapped out by hand on the pads, using note repeat or by recording the pulses as a sequence).
Lots and lots of other really really cool shit!!!

woooowww! this is big news.
i'd thought of using an mpc to record a synch track, but this is whole other level.
all my synths are in storage while i'm finding a new place to live. can't wait to get going on this.

Wow, thats what i needed. Got mad ideas now for the modulation.
Got the semi modular xs a few weeks ago and wished there was something like this, thanks for the link. But with the mpc its even nicer.

Would you mind sharing the samples?

I'm out of town right now but I'll share as soon as I get back next Wednesday.

Basically what I did was generate a bunch of low frequency tones in Wave Editor, time stretched them to different tempos and exported them with MPC pad 187 (set to loop and note on) to make programs for them.

I used this chart for the pitch to cv temperament: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CV/Gate

Again, this is the same concept as Motu's yet to be released plug-in called Volta, just utilizing samples instead of realtime generated tones.

Also, volume attenuates the outgoing voltage!!!

I'll post the sample pack as soon as get back, in the meantime, EXPERIMENT!!!

i couldn't see anything about the voltage in the manual and my multimeter is in storage.
a while back, i tried triggering my korg ms10 with a sample from the mpc1000 without any luck.
