Send multiple tracks to the same mixer channel?

How can this be done? I searched through the manual, and didn't find any related topics. I am sure there is a simple answer, so thanks in advance, i'm still new to MPCs. I'm running jj os 3.08 for the time being if it matters.

so the answer was simpler than i expected.

How do you guys go about applying identical effects to different tracks? Is there a copy/paste or save feature, or must you re-enter the parameters each time?

1 of 2 effects are assignable at the sample level. look in global program idiot. oops i meant edit.

It's on a per pad level, not a per sample level innit?

Only had a very quick look at effects myself but the way I understood it was you have to free effects you can set to what you want and then can assign any pads (or programs) to go to the effects. You can set effect 2 to follow effect 1 or not. There is also a master EQ and Compressor.

Thing was when I was playing about it seemed to affect the program on the track I was on without me actually routing the track to the effect, but as I said I've only had a very quick play with it so wanted to check more into that before mentioning.

Also each pad/program can have two filters assigned to it, which is useful for removing low end rumble and unwanted top end on samples.

Personally I had thought/hoped it would be done by track rather than pad/program and you could automate turning them on and off (no idea if you can do that as haven't looked yet.)


Above is based on my limited experience with 2XL. It may not be fully correct and it may vary with different versions.

i thought that the programs can either-

be routed to the mix: as for which track they are on, so each track has its own 'level/fx route' etc,

or the program can be set to be independent of the track, ie: each pad can be routed to the mix in independence.

the mix being what goes to what outs, and via what fx bus etc.

this behaviour is dependent on the JJOS versions. they differ.

I don't know but with my quick play with the FX and reading This from the JJOS site that is what I had worked out so far.

It seems you can change it to Track mode from the Mixer screen though, rather than GPE, which is where I was looking before.

I would guess that also changes it in the GPE screen as it would be a bit strange to be able to send a program and a track to the effect as that would effectively be trying to send it there twice...



As I said that was all I had managed to work out so far and was hoping for some further pointers. I know there's a lot more that can be done than I've got my head around so far!

what it does is 'switch' between the two options, its either 'as track' or 'as pgm', nice really cos as i often treat a tracks as a pad ''group'', so i can route all the tracks' activity to one place. but the original way was to set each pad to a mix, so there's the "pgm' mixer (mode+pad8), or the 'track mixer' (mode+pad4).

OK so I'm guessing this is good for if you use different Programs per track in different sequences you can then just set it once and you can have the same samples/program going through different filter/EQ by having them on different tracks. That's good, to be honest it's more how I expected it to work as standard.

We ungrade to the paid JJ to get the improved routing capabilities.

The free version still has limited routing and editing very similar to the Akai OS.
