MIDI PROBLEM: First note not playing at 001.01.00

i dont have any experience with a keyboard but i know that when i record into my 16 track i have to have a couple of extra bars added at the beginning of my sequence to allow time for each device to midi sync.

maybe your stuff isn't syncing fast enough to catch that first note.

Okay,

So today I called Yamaha Tech Support and they told me after explaining that it must be a problem with the MPC.

So I called Akai Tech Support. They listened and said they have NEVER heard of ANYTHING like this happening and suggested that I do a test to rule out the MPC. They asked me if I had any other keyboards or sound modules? If so, I should swap out the MO 6 with my sound module to see if the same thing happens.

Guess what?

I hooked up my MO Phatt Sound Module and it didn't happen. That means it's not the MPC...it's the Yamaha.

So I called Yamaha Tech Support back and explained everything that happened again. This time the guy took my name and number and said someone will have to call me back. And they will call back within 24 hours. After all the money I spent on that keyboard...NO ONE THERE CAN HELP ME WITH MY PROBLEM?

I was beyond irate at this point.

So...any of you guys using your MPC as master and using a MO 6 or MO 8 as a sound module?

If so...am I missing a setting on the Yamaha MO 6?

Is there a sync issue? Any way it can be worked out?

Please let me know if you do...this is really driving me insane.

yeah I have been comming back here to check the status also not that I have this problem.... it's just that it has me curious now.

out of curiostity... lets say you are trying to record on the mpc. if you push record and let the sequence go to the end without pushing anything... and when it loops back to 1.1 and you push stuff will it still do it?

when you try that , the sound will be cut off at 1.1 (note off style)

im still looking but still no succes , it feels like i'd tried everything imaginable
i also tried to put another keyboard to the mpc , korg x5 and same here , no problems at all
so it goes wrong when the sounds have to be send from the pc --> mpc
so my next thing will be searching en messing around with midi options/configuration on my computer

This is the problem I had a long while back. (at least I think)

The first kick, or sound at the beginning of my sequence would be off, but after that it would be all gravy. I tried adjusting/tweaking everything, eventually my issue was resolved when I replaced my crappy MIDI interface for a nicer one.

well i guess thats the only thing i havent tried out yet
im using a m-audio uno as interface, so i will try and get another interface
and then ill post the results

well i tried another m-audio interface from a friend , its a usb midisport 2x2
and it seems that the problem is solved , probably usb 1.0 in the uno or something ?
only thing i needed to do within reason under preferences - audio page - sample buffer rate , buffer size down to 2048
for a quicker respons under the pads

i have no experience with midi but if you're placing the note on 001.01.00, why don't you try placing the note at 001.01.01 instead? the ear can't tell the difference.

i know it won't fix the problem but could be an easy way around the problem

I had the same problem,and forgot how i figured it out.But i think it had something to do with my midi controller having a short.The midi controller was a m-audio 49e!

Yo I think I had a simmilar probelem...if I can remember (xl user) when I record a long sequence lets say a pad for 2 bars if I dont let go of the keys in time and it loops back what I just recorded for some reason gets choped..i'll try and elaborate on this later when I get some spare time right now i got to shoot off

Whats good? I ran across this post. Im not sure if your problem was solved but i think i got it. I had the same problem. Let me guess you was using the pgm on the mpc to toggle through your sounds on the mo6 and recording that way right? Well what I did was I just left the pgm to off and I changed my sounds from the mo6 instead of using the mpc to do it and everything turned out perfect. The notes wasnt being cut off from the beginning of the bar at all. Try that and see if that works.

I was having the same issue with my mpc2kxl and Mo 8. So After reading all the responses I just realized it might be the MMC turned on in the midi screen. I check my MPC and sure enough it was turned on and causing my notes on my Mo8 keyboard to jam up. I turned the MMC off on the master MPC drum machine and the problem went away.

I think OP has since sold his MPC, put the money towards buying a nice house in a nice neighborhood, started a family, watched his children become adults and move away, grew old, lived long enough to see his grandchildren come into this world, and then died of old age. Your powers in necromancy are unrivaled and strong enough to bring back threads from the dead...maybe you can resurrect OP as well?
