what up, started playing with my s9 again today, i still havent figured out something real basic about it since i got it about a year ago, is there a way to make the sample play without holding the pad down, something equivalent to the MPCs mono setting. This wasnt a probelm when i first got it cause i used it for drums on a couple tracks, but now im starting to slice and dice on it and wanna know. i dont think there is but just in case.

hmmm...

im not sure if this is what youre talking about but,

EDIT SAMPLE, page 4, and 1 for one shot...

otherwize i think it was up to setting it up in my 60...

what are you controlling it with? im sure i got it to do that if im understanding you correctly... you want to hit a pad on the mpc and make it play thru the whole sample once til the end, unless/until you hit the same note again(while the first note is still being played) then it will cut off the first note before it finishes and start the note again from the beginning?

im sure i can get mine to do that... (60 and s950)

exactly. u know the 950 gives you three options, one shot, loop, and combo. I set mine to one shot, but still finding myself having to hold the pad down and im using a 3K to control it which is the same OS/layout as your 60 if you got os 3.10, help me out meng.

1 mo question i just thought of, when i was using a Korg MS2000, and had it midied up, the 3K would record all my filter motions and toggling perfectly, has anyone out there tried midi controlling the s950's filter section?

sorry to have spoken so soon...

i just fired up my setup, and i couldnt get it done the way you want, i also skimmed the manual briefly and it looks like im sadly mistaken, there is no mono/poly/note off type function on the s950 that i could find... i was thinking maybe you could turn it on on the mpc and it would work... ill let you know if i figure anything out when i have more time to mess around but i dont think its possible...

my bad...

Peace

i'm on a 2000xl, and it can't be done on that. I can't use the layer and 16 levels either...
If you can do that on a 3k, it would be reason enough for me to switch to that. lemme know.

I wouldnt think there was a way around it but I recently saw that SKings s950 video, Doc was using it with a sp1200 and he would just tap once and the sample would play through like a mono setting on the MPC.

As far as 16 levels, you cant do that, but you can set the keygroup on the s950 from say note 60 to 75 for your corresponding pads and you can get 16 levels note feature. And if your just using one sample from the s950 leave the s950 in in edit sample mode instead of edit program to use the full keyspan, youll lose your filter options though.

SO, anyone on midi controlling the filter sections on the s950 via keyboard? I would try myself but dont have a board right now.

Yeah..agree with DovEski over the first part....I've played around in Edit Program mode and no matter what I change, when hiting the P.B. button, I get the full sample....unlike in Edit Sample mode

Anyone here ever taken a s950 apart? My memory's upgrades fooked and I want check to see if it has become loose...well travelled s950

well, in theory you are just triggering an amplitude envelope. If you want it to keep playing after you hit the pad, you might want to raise the release of that envelope while you are in one shot mode.

i can get the sample to play all the way thru, but what i cant get it to do is to cut off the first note and start again with the new note once a pad is played....

so how do you get it to play all the way without holding the pad down?

By elmacaco Tue Jul 20, 2004 7:35 pm
Amp envelope release maybe?

hahaha!! I got it. Go to EDIT PGM - PAGE 15 - There you should see one shot, set it to on. Thats all.
