Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I am having no luck installing an Iomega internal 250mb zip drive into my MPC 2000XL. I bought this from a computer guy off of ebay, and have gone through two so far. He returned the first one that didn't work and sent me another one, so I am looking for advice before I send back this one as well. I uploaded the 1.14 OS through my floppy drive prior to installing the zip drive. After the OS was upgraded I then installed the zip drive, but when I go to load files from the zip drive there is and error at 0000:BFF2 message that shows up. I have tried to change the master setting on the zip, but that only makes the MPC show a "no floppy" sign when I try to load from the zip. He suggests that maybe there is something wrong with my MPC as the zip drives are working when he sent them out. I don't doubt the zip drive is working, I just can't seem to sync it with my MPC. Any suggestions?

The error your getting is the error everyone gets when they do this type of thing. 250mb internal zips for some reason keep giving people problems.

Actually I did try that as well with no luck. Thanks anyway with the suggestion. Any thoughts on using a CF card reader?

i assume scsi for samplers is selling internal SCSI zip drives, not internal IDE zip drives.

if you are gonna send back the zip drive ask the guy if he could send you a 100mb zip drive in exchange. those seem to work ok... although mine is scsi, it should still work.

hey debauch - so you think it being SCSI AND 250mb causes the problem? im thinking of getting an internal zips since my external broke and i never use my floppy internal drive, but now im 2nd guessing myself. if theres alot of problems then screw that. ill stick with an external.

check out my thread - external/internal zip.

well 250mb drives have been known to work. I just dont remember if those were scsi or ide.

either way, it sounds to me as if there is an atapi issue with that ide zip drive.

I know for sure iomega zip100 scsi internal drives work, because I have one... I doubt there are ones that dont work......... just remember not to set the scsi ID number to 6 or else it wont work.
