Attention! Floppy Error on 60

I've had my MPC60 for almost 4 years now, and I've never had this problem....

I have a .SEQ file on a floppy from a beat I've been working on lately. So I went to open it up today, and I got this error:

ATTENTION!
This file was created by a unit with a later system software version. You must upgrade the system in this unit before reading this file.

<Exit>

How the F can this possibly happen when this floppy has never seen any other use besides the 60 on this beat only??

What a way to completely empty motivation to work on this beat.
Guess I gotta get high and remake it.
But really...how could this happen?

Corrupt disk or dirty floppy disk drive heads.

All it takes is one byte in the file header to be misread and your MPC60 may throw a message like the one above.

Lets look at the message in more detail:

1: The MPC60 knows what the file is.
2: The MPC60 knows that the file is not corrupt.

So ...

Clean the floppy disk drive with a "floppy disk drive cleaning kit"...

...and try reloading the offending file from your disk.

Maybe this will help.

Do not use the cleaning kit to much though, with to much use it will destroy ur drive even more.

Word Rohan. I guess I can find this type of disk cleaner at any Staples/Office Depot type of store correct?

I went ahead and re-made those sequences, but I'd like to not have that happen again, haha.

I ordered it from here http://www.amigakit.com/ I do not think most office suply stores have them since no1 uses floppys in 2009... exept for idiots with samplers that are over 20 years old

But please take my advice to your heart, using it to much will kill ur drive.

I used it twice a year ago and am almost trouble free from floppy issues, only thing I do now when I get a floppy error is formating another empty floppy (I have one just for this) and after I formatted it al works again. Maybe that will help ya out 2.
