using MPC500 as a sequencer

Hi there,

After some first tries, I figured that it would be great to use my 500 as a sequencer in a following way:

1. prepare - say - 20-30 4 bar samples / loops
2. load them into memory (got 128 MB) e.g. as a program
3. play them in continuous loop by pushing assigned pads
4. stopping, or rather: signalling that I want the loop to be stopped when it comes to its end (not immediately when pushed the pad)

Any hints how can I do it other way than muting / unmuting?

Make them sequences and pick the next one on the sequence screen. It'll switch when the last one is done. If you don't pick one, it loops the one it's on.

Maybe I've described what I want badly...

One more try:
I'd like to be able to play any loop by pushing the assigned pad once (loop plays continuosly), and end it (signal its end, as the loop should be heard till its end, not stopped immediately after tap) by pushing the same pad twice. The loops should be played / heard simultanously, not sequentially. Got it?

How THIS could be done?

Should be: by pushing (tapping) the same pad again (second time) - not twice..

Resample the sequences to the pads as samples and assign them as notes, not one shot. Hold down the shift key and hold the pad with the sequenced sample and BAM, it loops. Press the pad again and it stops.

OK, since it didn't work the way I wanted, let me describe what I've made

1. I've prepared a program with 10 samples (to be looped) and assigned to the pads A1-A10. They are all 2 bars, 120 bpm.
2. the are saved as "note on"
3. After loading the program I can hear each of the samples by pressing the assigned pad (as long as I keep the pad pressed)

Now, I DO NOT want to make a sequence, i.e. record the samples in any specific order. I just want them to be ready, to be played whenever I tap a pad, and be heard as a endless loop after tapping (1st tap). Another tap (2nd) in a specific pad should stop the loop - not immediately, but when it reaches its end.

p.s. now I got it, that the name of the post is wrong... maybe it should be like: "using MPC500 as a looping sampler" ?

Get the BCR-2000 from behringer, then you can use it for loop-on loop-off for up to 48 loops. I do this.
