Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hi, Sorry if this has been asked before but can't find any related post and it would take me ages to go through all of them!. The manual doesn't seem to mention it as far as I can see..
So, is it possible to change the start point of samples while the sequencer is running? basically to adjust them in real time?
Also, can you sample while playing back a secuence?
I am an mpc3000 user and also own the mpc1000 (which can do those things) but would prefer to sell it and use the mpc500 instead (and buy a mic with the difference)...i sequence on the 3000 anyway

BTW if you are interested in listening to my tracks I would really appreciate it :)

You can do it, ish. If you use the Velocity > Start control in the program page (set it to 100, and then set Velocity > Volume to 0) the velocity of the pad you strike will adjust the sample start time. With creatively cut samples, and some careful program creation (setting samples to pads with fixed velocity ranges etc) you can achieve something like the result you desire.

Even if it's not, you can still get some tasty, choppy results!

Tru that but it don't actually move the samples timing does it?

Thanks a lot guys. Yeah, I actually do that sometimes on the 3000, it can be a lot more tedious but it's true that you can get interesting results!
If anyone has time to reply, can you sample while playing back a secuence? For instance to record an external synth fed by the mpc..
Thanks again...
