Hey Experts,

Is it possible to save my samples as .snd (AU Format Sound)? I remember I was able to do it when I had the MPC2000. I have a buddy that has the MPC3000, and I'd like to share some samples with him. I currently have the MPC2500 with JJ OS2XL.

Thanks,

the mpc2500 can read and load SND files, but it will only save in WAV format.

i'm sure there's a program out there that can convert your WAV files to SND. try google.

Oh, okay. I don't understand why Akai took out the option. New MPCs should do more than the older models, not less. I guess I'll tell my buddy he'll just have to convert the samples to SND himself. LOL

I'm sure Akai took out the option because WAV is the standard these days. The 2000 and 2000xl having the option to save as WAV was just the beginning of the transition.

mpc editor can import wavs and export mpc3000 programs.

you wont be able to load entire pgms though cause it doesnt recognise the 2500 format,

if you do pad placements actually in mpc editor you can export to 2000xl format and 3000 format- the 2000xl format will load in your 2500 (more complex settings may need a little tweaking once in the 2500 but for straight forward pad placements it should be fine)
