making longer tones with samples I had?

Aight, let me try to explain my question if i can. I have tones like strings, violins ,etc. , but the samples are really short,(2sec). How do I make these sounds longer and natural sounding? I tried to loop them,but they didn't sound right. Is there a easy way to do this. I'm using the free jjos.

Look into crossfade looping. Most software editors have it and so does jjos2xl. Just make sure the samples are stereo if you use crossfade looping in jjos2xl.

It's not as easy as it sounds, just loop it.

In the free jjos u need to go to the trimscreen. Highlight the startpoint of the sample and press window. Now the mpc will ask u if the start point of the loop will be the same point as the startpoint of the original sample. Select no. (when u trigger the sample it will start from it's original start point, plays the sample till the endpoint and will start again from it's startpoint u have set for the loop)
Set the start and end point of the loop. Use the joint feature to make sure there's a smooth transition between the end and start point. (try to set these points between the atack and the decay point of the sample)
Make sure the end and start point look almost identical the same in the joint screen.

thanks for the response Menco and Ocular. I use to do something like what you described back in the olden days (1991) with a Roland W-30 I used to have. Considering that was dang near 20yrs ago, I knew it could be done on a MPC1k somehow. I'll give it a try. Thanks again.
