Decided to stay with the 2500. Thanks peeps.

when I still had my 2500, I used to carry it around in 17inch laptop soft case...how much more portable the 1000 can be ?



both machines are capable of achieving the same thing, they bascially are the same thing....aditional outputs, tilt screen, cd-rw, bigger pads, more q-link buttons. if you can live without those features, then there goes your answer.

Gave it a lot of thought, and really couldn't justify the switch. I'd been thinking I wanted a 1000 with future live gigs in mind, but I'll already have an APC40, a keyboard, a laptop, and Traktor scratch. Having yet another machine in the mix would actually be overkill. Unnecessary. Besides the live gigs, I also thought, do I really want to have my MPC with me all the time? I mean, I know its fun, but there's certainly other things to do and people to see. The point of getting out of the house isn't to go elsewhere to do the same things you do in there. You know what I mean?

So i've made my decision... the MPC shall stay in the studio. And in that case, I'm happy I already have the superior MPC. So yeah, I'm keeping the 2500.

yeah, i didn't mean it as a putdown to the 1000. Should've said "the more highly spec'd mpc" or something along that line. You get my drift

ha ha no worries- I wish I had both! However, the 5000 is starting to intrigue me a bit, and since a fully loaded 1000 with JJ pretty much has the same features as a 2500, I'd probably try to find a 5000 for cheap and get that to add to the 1000. Wishful thinking...right?

yeah if you use ableton and you're getting an apc theirs no reason not to sell the 2500 and get a 1000 the 1000 will save your ass when you're playing live and you wouldn't want to take a 2500 out for that purpose the 1000 is just as sweet as the 2500 anyway and in some ways better because of its size not only is it much more portable but you can combine it with other pieces much more easily lots of people put 1000s in cases like vintage luggage or horncases with other pieces of kit it makes a nice setup. the 2500 is great but studio bound only and if you're in the studio why not just use live/apc

I was going through the same thing last week. Probably a little worse.

I got my MPC 2 weeks ago. Since I bought it I have hardly used it. I produce Dubstep aswell, which is done in Reason and have been focusing on those productions recently. I came from the MPD 32, and was using it hooked up to Reason. I got the MPC 2500 because I liked the feel for the MPD 32 but wanted more. I wanted an independent unit to produce Hip Hop and loved the features it offered.

Last week I looked at the 1000 with JJOS and was so tempted to take it back to the store. I then thought about sacking it and sticking with the MPD32 (which I still own). But then I looked at my productions on the MPC 2500 and the ones on Reason, and knew that selling it would be a bad move as my productions are so much better now.

So all in all, I chose to keep the MPC. It's left a huge dent in my pocket, but hey, that's life. If I fall short on my rent, it's back to the parents house. Ha. But at least I'll have the baby still
