filtering samples

what is the easiest way to put the low notes of a sample behind it making a bassline effect? Do you just sample the sound twice?

you can assign the same sound to a different pad, then edit the filter on it, and either use the simultaneous feature, or just record the edited sample behind the original..

And maybe, you can cut the high a little from the original sample, so it doesnt get muddy.

I didnt realize when it says "file name exists" you could replace it and both same sounds are there... anyways.. a Q for eproductionz..About cutting the highs from the OG sample.. Is there more effects that I am not aware of? I only go to SHIFT.PGM.PARAMS... Fill me in son.. Thx alot guys..

I don't use my MPC for cutting the high, cause i got a 2K classic, it only has Low pass filter.

I do it on my PC, (u can use any DAW u like i suppose) and then export the edited sample back to my MPC,

whoops i mean cutting out the low, so you have the high left.
Then you'll have 1 sample with the Low pass bass, and 1 sample with the high ends, and together it will sound perfect, and will not get muddy.

I understand... Is that possible to do with the XL? All I am aware of on the XL as far as effects go is.... attack.. decay..freq... and reson.. Which it is very possible to do with freq and reson.. Just sounds like ur on another level with it.. Thx for the qucik reply..

99.8 percent of your filtering must be done before you sample on the xl. It makes you think ahead that way. Use your mixer to eq.
