I have a real gripe with the price of the ram memory and cd drive for the 5k. ive just bought the memory update for a 100 quid, which i think is well overpriced, i had a 1k and the memory for that is dirt cheap. and the cd/dvd drive is 200 quid. who in the right mind would pay that? i mean it would be nice to have but i could just as easy save my mix to hd and connect to my comp and burn shit. How do Akai justify charging 200 quid for a component thats so cheap to make?

1. Traditional Reasons? Akai related expansions/products have always been very expensive since the 80s, when top of the line samplers like the s1000 went for $6000...

2. small numbers of additional hardware built. I guess this is the main reason. You can't compare the support plate of akai to those $50 cheapos.
