not quite sure what your problem is pal?!? this *is* the mpc comparison forum, i've contributed to these boards helping other people. if you don't have anything useful or pleasant to say, just say nothing.

-

anyone else care to shed some light on this?

i've heard the adat board on the 4000 only outputs at 44.1/16. if there isnt a way to output at a better quality than my 2500 then perhaps the 4000's DA convertors are better than the 2500's?

just a straight-forward nerdy kind of question........

Yes.

The 4k sounds superior tho the 2500 and has higher spec 24bit/96kconverters. Subjective? Certainly. I owned both and I could hear the difference.

Not just that, the converters are only part of what comes from the output. You will probably find the digital outs produce a superior sound between the units as well. I did not directly compare this part though.

You should read on the difference between 24bit and 16bit converters. Then find something else to finalize your decision because the difference is minor in a sampler situation....unless your doing hi-fidelity recordings of concert hall orchestras n shit.

"minor" is subjective. The difference is not just the bit rate but also the quality of converters as two 24 bit converters can be of totally different quality. Not to mention that the quality of sound can be different even before it reaches the converter. It does not matter what material you are using either. A higher quality converter will keep the sample more true to the original. A cheapo converter will suck the life out of the sample. IMO the sound quality is much better on the 4k. Even the 16 bit MPC5k sounds better than the 2500 Actually, the 2500 is the most lifeless sampler I have ever heard. Really cheap quality audio components.
