it's just a balancing game, volume of the pt01 to the mpc rec gain..the needle on it is below average, but very durable..treating your records with gruv glide helps a ton too..

ok... there are already 20 threads that have covered this [including this one here if you just go back about 20 pages or so most likely]... but the PT01 turntable is exactly what you get for cheap price... a cheap turntable.

anything with a plastic tonearm and/or the inability to swap the cartridge on it [for a better one] is only good for what portables are good for... which is hearing records before purchasing them. oddly enough, most record stores these days won't even allow you to bring in a portable... so unless you're going to flea markets or spend long periods of time away from home... why the hell would you buy a portable turntable anyway?

oh that's right... because it's cheap. and again... you get what you pay for. and there are better turntables to be had for the same amount of money if not less too, but apparently people new to this vinyl thing can't be bothered to do any research. they would rather just buy the cheapest one immediately available to them and claim it's the bee's knees. i used to have a Marantz turntable i picked up for $40 which sounded amazing... i only upgraded to a Technics over time because i wanted to have a DJ turntable for scratching if needed.

i had a PT01 as well... and while i used for a couple years as a portable, i would never deny the lousy sound quality it offers. it amplifies static on a record and makes anything that isn't damn near mint sound static-y and beat-up. the needle hardly even enters the grooves... it just skims the surface and has no weight control, this also means newer represses are more likely to skip the needle around aimlessly [i'm sure you PT01 know what i'm talkin about]. the Vestax one is no better... if you want a turntable for the purpose of sampling from it... please don't waste your own time and buy something decent. if not, you'll seriously be better off just sampling from MP3s or some crappy youtube video.

i suppose you're laughing at the part where you said you have "hundreds of customers"...

besides, you asked the question... i don't see why you're pulling this "let's keep it on topic" stuff now.

..alright mr Crossings

before you start talking ish, get your facts straight..dont be lazy, and click on the previous page and read..i never asked for anyone's opinion on the PT01, i've been using mine for years, and i don't give a flying rats behind who likes or who doesn't..

a board member simply asked me for my opinion, and i answered, and now all of a sudden people jump on it, talking isht, all im doing is defending my opinion, which I'm entitled to..

now leave me alone, im busy listenin to Natalie Cole on my cheap as* turn table..

you didn't even bother contesting the part about "hundreds of customers", but whatever... we all know you're full of it either way.

wtf you mean you never asked anyone's opinion on the PT01?? you said... and i quote:

i'd like to know more about why you think it sucks..

so i went off on why your turntable is a piece of flaming sh!t... sorry you can't afford better despite your booming beat business.

seriously, man.. make up your mind already.

ps: you may wanna change that needle now that you've been "using it for years".

lol..

make up my mind?..about what mr crossings?..

yes..I do have hundreds of customers, from production, to recording, to mixing..why would I contest when all it's gonna do is keep this stupid little thread going about my crappy as* turntable I use for sampling?..

oh, and I have plenty of money to buy technics or whatever you think is good enough to use to sample..matter of fact, whenever I'm ready to step my game up, I'll consult you first..

and yeah, guess you're right..brought this on myself..lol

I don't know you, any of you..and you definately don't know me..

I love my pt01, and will continue to use my crappy as+ turntable..matter of fact, I might clean it tonight..

you keep saying you don't care what anyone thinks about the PT01 but get majorly asshurt everytime someone does say something about it.

you then proceed to say that you never asked anyone about it when you clearly did... and then tell us to stay on topic. that's why i was saying... which is it? make up your mind already.

by the way... i dig the rest of your studio... there's some nice stuff in there. i guess just from my own personal experience of having had both the PT01 as well as a Technics with a decent cart i feel like anyone into sampling should go for the better option... it makes a HUGE difference in quality. and no you won't need to consult me when you finally get around to buying something better, but i'll definitely recommend the GRADO line of cartridges in advance.

is that all you wanted mr crossings?..

here: I don't care what you think, but I will defend my opinion..

I admitted you were right about bringing this on myself, I was asking doglamp why he didn't like it, I didn't intend it for everyone to jump in..my freakin bad..

can we move on now??
