Check your RAM, my Blue Plus would do strange things when working at 88 or 96, until I swapped the RAM.
Also watch the samples you try to use.
I had some 24bit samples from a library that will lock up both the 4k's.

This can be true as I've heard a lot about crappy RAM. I see it's not a HDD problem 'cus I had this issues on pendrive. Last time I was trying to record my beat which was something about 3 minutes and when I pressed record in RECORD mode ... FATAL ERROR, tried it again and it worked, skipping all this 4K is gr8, if I could exchange my blue one with white one I would do it  .

Yeah right, konc3pt,

Thing is, I was having lunch with Quincy Jones yesterday, I he told me Forat is on crack most days.

^^^did you get off on that or something? or you own blue 4000 ?

Forgive me but I dont get the joke

what's so unusual about getting your mpc fixed at forat ? it's either VST or Forat...I happen to be in the area that day cuz I had to visit ambassy.

is forat celebrity to you is that why it's so hard to belive you can go to his store to get your mpc serviced ?

I know it may sound like a ferry story from where you are, but reality is if you're in cali you can go to to Forats store to get your shit fixed any time if you in studio city area.

like I said earlier

OK well after you go see forat, maybe go see a doctor too and tell him your sense of humour ain't working properly and can you have some drugs. Haloperidol, perhaps.

so it went from discussion about mpc 4000 to insulting eh...I see you running out constructive of shit to say so you try to be funny now too

being clown is not as easy as you thought it was, is it.

and since you already know what doctor prescribes tell him that shit is not working out for you...and maybe lay off that booze since you not supposed to take take meds and drink alcohol at the same time.

as far as im concerned I will still take authorized akai service repair center's word over what you have to say, cuz you nobody in this case

I have two MPC PLUS versions. One I got brand new from Music Store (Cologne, Germany) at that time,
when the MPC5000 was announced. So I bought this model for a sold-out price (1699 Euros).

One year later, I got another used one from Ebay, like new, including the SPDIF and 8-out option (1400 Euros).

So far, I never encountered any fatal errors, BUT I had several issues with the cable connections on BOTH units.

The problems were:
New machine: front USB-port not working from time to time, no boot-up from time to time
Used machine: no boot-up, just white screen

These problems could be fixed by reseated the cable connections between the boards.

From then on, everything has been working like a charm.
