Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

The .SND file size is always over 2.0 mb, so I cant save it to my floppy...

Is there a way i could reduce the quality or anything so i can fit it on my floppy...

Like Damu The Fudgemunk, he has one song per floppy?

Any suggestions?

just got an asr x pro (first thing ive owned thathas a floppy) my 2000xl has a cf drive and i can put around 50 programs and seq. on a 1 gig card . man all i got to say is fuuck floppies!!!!!!!!!!! just made my first asr beat yesterday (max ram gives me 386 sec of stereo sampling, wich is more than the 189 sec. on the xl ) when i saved the beat wich only had about a 6 second sample , it took 7 discs to save and took about 20 min. all together !!!!!!like i said fuuck floppies ! Q: i have a S3000xl with internal zip drive, does anyone know if i can install it in my asr? it looks about the same dimentions on the outside so i know it will fit in the asr, but is it compatable? if so does anyone know how to do it. tried to ask on the Ensoniq forum but that place is the worst forum ive ever seen (this being the best) mpc is still king when it comes to samplers but the asr does have a very noticable sound to it!!! thanks

Sorry but dont blame floppies if you cant really use your gear. 6 seconds would NEVER take 7 disks. 1 disk can hold 1,4 MB and that's 17 seconds of samplingtime (mono 44,1kHz/16bit) For a stereo sample its 8 seconds. Now most drumsamples are mono anyway and have a lenght of 0,2 (HiHats) - 0,8 (long Kicks or Snares) seconds. You can save your 6 seconds stereo sample (1034 Kbyte) and lets say 10 drumsounds (in mono) to a single disk and it should be enough space for the sequence data too.
I guess you didnt cut your sample the right way so the stuff before the startpoint and after the endpoint is still there.
(I dont have an ASR s I dont know how it handles the samples)

The ASR is one of the best (beside the EPS and the Casio FZ1/Hohner HS1) when it comes to save memory cause you can copy a sample without using more memory. It copies just the parameters and not the sound data so you use the same sample data but different start/end points etc. Very handy when chopping up long samples.

i was just stating what happened (i know how to use it) ive had it for a few days and am just learning it for now and am gonna get a zip ,matter of fact since an hour ago i made another beat which took 14 discs to save !i actually think its funny , plus i bought a 100 pk of floppies at staples for 15 bucks so i really dont care. in the long run im more than likely gonna just use it to edit my samples than just put them in the mpc and do my thing so peter piper...suck my d1ck!!
