i remember in a post a while back, Nym reported information that jj was going to bring back mixer automation. i don't know if it was inside info, but it would be nice to know if that is still in the plan, especially now that he is working on his computer sequencer. this is not a complaint, because i have figured out cool ways around pan automation with the flying and tremelo effects on my MPC1k. i was just wanting to know if this and any other perks are coming.
thanks in advance Nym. by the way, the last beat you posted inspired me on some H.O.T ...ish! !

i don't remember if it was me who posted that he said he'd bring it back or someone else - but i do remember what you're talking about. i just searched 10 or so jj emails in my gmail and it didn't turn up - maybe it was someone else's communication?

As of last night, I've gone back to OS2 for this reason. I missed having knobs and sliders for parameter changes all too much as well as not being restricted to entire track tweaks with them.

No, not me. Although I can get down to Chocolate & Cheese. Those songs are so well written. Those guys are top notch musicians for sure. Dean Wean has got guitar chops out the A$$hole.

make note of what i wrote further down in the linked thread:

it was mentioned in a previous thread. JJ is going to add PAN & LEVEL to the qlinks.

BUT... this functionality is still going to be GIMPED in 2xl (like a lot of other stuff).

what i wrote regarding this previously:

it's nice he's adding it in, but it will still be crippled in 2xl because of the way JJ changed the q-links. in 2xl you can only have ONE type of q-link tweak active at a time, so if you use the q-link to tweak the level or the pan, it will wipe out any other tweaks you have previously made (filter, tune, sample start, etc...).

in os 2, you can have 2 types of q-link active simultaneously & recorded into the sequence. you can also assign the q-link to effect the entire track or just 1 pad. you can even go into GRID EDIT and edit your REALTIME qlink tweaks (copy, paste, delete, etc..). this capability was removed in 2xl and is one of the main reasons i stopped using the os.

i don't remember. that was a while ago.

The only thing that xl has that I missed when reverting back to OS2 is the use of qlink slider in program edit.

yup. that was definitely cool. a shame you can't record those tweaks into the sequence. i would switch back to 2xl for that capability.

JJ needs to introduce a new TRACK type.
we've currently got: DRUM, INST, AUDIO, MIDI, ARP, CHORD,

what we need: AUTO track (AUTOMATION).

so the user can create a new AUTO track and then put the cursor over ANY field in ANY screen and the changes / tweaks will be recorded. this way you could have recordable FX changes & tweaks, PROGRAM tweaks, MIXER, TRIM screen, etc.
