Going rate for 3k $$

I maybe interested in getting a 3k or 3k le
what is a fair price to pay??

I paid $2,085 on ebay for the original 3K. Would of got it cheaper, but would of had to take my chances bidding on it, so I used the buy it now feature. Mine already had the Vailixi 3.50 OS upgrade. I would say no more than $2000-3000. Someone else might have a different rate. The one I bought was in excellent condition, so take that into account how much you pay. Make sure you don't notice any signs of a possible scam.

A smart investment in my opinion. These were built to last, if taken care of.

From my research, a good price for a full blown 3k would be around 1,100 - 1,200 $. For the LE, if in good cosmetic condition, it would go around for 1,800 - 2,000 $.

If someone asks for more than that, I would stay away.

kebzer is right on the mark.

I have been watching e-bay for the the last five years for mpc3000's
I see them listed all the time for $1100.

of course you need to realize these machines are old now.
most of them have traded owners several times.
most of the machines you will find, will need some sort of minor repair.

these machines are definitely worth collecting.

got a few more questions for all you 3k heads 8)

So the 3k le is just a black paint job? or am I missing something ?

How rare is the VGA output? seems like a lot of 3k's don't have them..

The LE comes with Full Memory, nothing else. Oh, and the beautiful paint job of course. :D And normally, it is in MINT condition cause every single user tends to treat them really gentle.

The VGA output was optional and really I can't see any point in having it. It's way too expensive to get if the one you're going to buy won't have it on board.

is it more expensive then the replacement screen if it burn out?

I am not sure if you can actually operate it without a screen on board. Anyhow, I guess it's cheaper to get the VGA than a new screen but thing is that you must always carry with you a huge CRT monitor. Not that comfortable I guess... :D

lugging around a CRT monitor? well you could do that... or you could get the world's smallest lcd display with vga!

It's a buyer's market right now -- especially with those that have cash to buy. Doesn't matter if it's gear, cars or real estate -- if you have cash you can get some real good deals.
