how to delete everything & save shit

So I've had my mpc500 for a few weeks now, and still can't figure out how to save beats i make correctly. I try to save them, then when i turn it back on they're gone. Also, I cannot figure out how to delete the bullshit top gun & sunny sequences. I seem to when it's on, but when i turn it off then back on they're there again. Please help!

Look up Autoload in the manual, turn it off and the sequences will be gone. Saving is also explained in the manual but I agree it is a bit tedious. This is how I do it.

I go to save program> press do it> turn the datawheel till it says new folder> press do it> name the folder> press do it

You can aply this to everything you want to save, only thing is that after the first time you made a new folder you have to make sure you are in the right folder when saving.

a little bit off-topic but...is there a way to delete the samples that are saved inside a project but aren't beeing used in any program of the project? Just checking..

I'm also interested in the answer to this. There's the "Purge unused" option in Program mode, but that option erases all samples not used by a single program. What if you have various programs and want to delete samples not used in any of them?

No clue I only use one program.

Of course. I was just wondering if it could be done without having to do it for each program.

How do you delete TOP_ **** Gun?

Just do a quick search, there's a tutorial about few pages back on how to delete everything. Its about shutting off your 500 while the system accesses the flash memory. I did it a few times and it works, just forgot how.

My Worklfow for saving is pretty similiar to 64hz's answer.
I use 2 sd-cards. one for my drums and short samples and one for my beats and programs.

I create a folder for each beat i make. In this folder i'll save my program ( same name as the folder) containing every samples of my beat. My Sequences and song i save with "all seq&songs" into that same folder. So everything is in a nice order on my little friend.
as previously mentioned the "purge unused" function in the program mode delete every samples wich is not assigned to a pad. thats all, i think
