Yes you are! Speeding it up on the record player is also going to change the tune, so you just detune it back to the original speed/tune on the mpc! I can't remember the exact amount you need to detune it, but it shouldn't be too hard to match it by ear.
And this technique isn't really necessary if you have a new sampler with hundreds of seconds of sampling time.. It is more useful if you have a sampler with like ten or five seconds of sampling time...
